The 14th Tallinn Design Festival (Disainiöö / Design Night) had “Future Materials ” as the main topic due to the fact that designers and architects know relatively little about new modern materials and their effects. The choice of the topic was also helped by the fact that all plastic utensils, bags, and several other plastic items will soon be banned. There is an urgent need to respond by finding alternative natural materials, and this is an area where designers are increasingly collaborating with researchers.
Precious Plastic Estonia participated in the festival in a number of different ways. The main exhibition had our recycling machines showcased for the whole week. For one evening the team organised workshops for the exhibition visitors. The main theme of the workshops was upcycling household plastic material into new things. During the festival, Jegor also presented Precious Plastic in a PECHAKUCHA presentations event.
PechaKuchaNight is a specific presentation format (20 slides lasting for 20 seconds) from Tokyo architects during which creative people can bring new ideas and educational experiences to the public.
